Are you contemplating purchasing some OPI Top Coat for your nails? Want to know more about the product before you do and if it’s worth investing in – not just know but for all those future nail application too?
Well, this OPI Top Coat review will help you learn all you need to know and whether you should trust in this iconic and popular brand.
Let’s be honest – there are no shortages of options when it comes to top coats.
And OPI are a major brand in the nail-care space.
So naturally it makes sense to go with them, right?
Well, having used it for some time I’d like to share with you my thoughts and opinions and if it really is the one you should go for.
OPI Topcoat – Quick Verdict
OPI Topcoat is good, but in my opinion and experience, it doesn’t quite match the quality of Kur Flash Dry Top Coat.
I prefer Kur Topcoat for it’s faster drying time, longer durability and higher shine.
What Does OPI Topcoat Do?
OPI Topcoat is a clear nail lacquer that helps to protect your nails, prevent chipping (of polish) and helps to deliver a high gloss shine.
OPI topcoat will also help to prevent smudges.
In short, it will help to seal in color and extend wear of your manicure.
How Do You Use OPI Top Coat?
You use OPi Topcoat once you have applied your nail lacquer, and it has had sufficient amount of time to dry.
You then simply brush on the topcoat, using the small brush provided, being sure to do so evenly.
For best results, OPI recommend that you use a base coat, preferably the OPI base coat, before you apply your nail lacquer, and then the topcoat.
What Is OPI Topcoat Made Of (The Ingredients)
OPI Topcoat is made of a combination of liquids and compounds.
It does contain Formaldehyde Resin, which appears to be a derivate Formaldehyde, and is added for its nail strengthening effects.
Though, its important to note that it may cause allergies in those with particularly sensitive skin.
Full ingredient list: Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Acrylates Copolymer, Alcohol Denat./SD Alcohol 40-B, Cellulose Acetate Butyrate, Tosylamide/Formaldehyde Resin, Trimethyl Pentanyl Diisobutyrate, Etocrylene, Benzophenone-1, Dimethicone, CI 60725 (Violet 2).
My Experience With OPI Topcoat
I’ve used OPI topcoat over the years, particularly when travelling or in need of a quick topcoat that I can depend on, and trust.
Though, I have found that it takes a long time to dry, and it can cause the nails to become soft (and vulnerable to scratches).
I also find it can be quite the challenge to apply evenly, which is essential to get the most out of it.
And if not applied evenly or correctly, you will find your nails are vulnerable to chipping.
The Verdict
OPI Top coat is a good option if you want to seal in your manicure and better protect your nails from day-to-day wear and tear.
You’ll get a nice shine and finish, too.
Though, I’ve found other top coats to be much more effective.
And Kur Flash Dry Top Coat, is just one product in particular in which I can vouch for.
It spreads really evenly and dries almost instantly – giving you back the most important resource of all – time!
Plus, I love all the benefits of ordering through LondonTown, such as all of their various payment options and prompt delivery times.
The fact that they have a clean commitment and sustainability pledge are also other reasons to go through this brand.
So, If I were you, I would go with Kur.
In fact, this is the topcoat I personally use. It’s one of my favorite and nail product staples.
In short, it does everything that OPI topcoat does, arguably better (and definitely at least as well), plus its a company we should all really get behind.
Kur Fast Drying Topcoat – My Preferred Alternative
You won’t get much better in a topcoat than this.
Plus it’s formulated without: Formaldehyde, Toulene, DBP, Camphor, Ethyl Tosylamide, Acetone, Xylene, TPHP, or Formaldehyde Resin and is Vegan and cruelty-free!
